Hello. How are you? I am fine.
Just out of curiosity: What's your beef with soccer (or as the rest of the world calls it, football)???
Seriously. Write down your beef in the comments after you finish reading this letter, cus I would really like to know.
And, as I am undoubtedly sure, you have already begun to ponder the many reasons why soccer is inferior to football, baseball, basketball, hockey, lacrosse, curling, World Series of Poker, synchronized swimming or whatever it be that you think is better than soccer.
Hold on a second. Ask yourself: Have you really watched an entire soccer game?
Have you ever realized the skill it takes to handle a soccer ball? Have you tried?
Have you ever found that soccer players need to be in peak physical condition to be able to compete?
Have you ever seen the passion of soccer fans, 70,000 strong, all finding a shared joy when the ball hits the back of the net? Have you?
Have you ever witnessed 60,000 people sing together as one? Did it give you goosebumps?
Have you noticed that soccer isn't only a sport to some people? That to some it surrounds every aspect of life: Socially, Politcally, Economically, Religously?
My guess is that most of your answers to these questions are "no".
I was one of you, even less than a year ago. It took me a long time to see what a beautiful game this sport really is.
Try giving it a chance, and see for yourself that this game doesn't suck, like so many Americans think it does.
