Currently, I live in Charleston, South Carolina, certainly not "Bears country." In fact, the other day on my lunch break I went to this little hot dog place and the guy weaing the Giants hat behind the counter announced my order as the "Grossman Special." Seeing as how I was wearing my Bears hat, I didn't think anything of it, until he passed me the bag and shouted in glee, "Don't drop it! Don't drop it! hahahaha." Had I been drinking, I would of punched the guy.
Our Bears have certainly made some questionable moves (and non-moves) this off-season, and I can't help but be suspicious of their intentions myself. As happy as I am that a guy like Marty Booker is once again a Bear, did we really GAIN anything by that move or was it another band-aid reaction to a situation that required major surgery? Letting Berrian go was a huge mistake, in my opinion. Putting such blind-faith in Hester's ability to fully convert as a WR is a little irresponsible. Who knows, he may shock us again like he's shocked us since he put on the uniform. But I'm still suffering acid reflux from last year's offensive performance.
There's been no effort and no talk about our QB situation, which leads me to believe that Grossman's newly awarded 1 year deal is the Hallas Hall's way of saying, "one more year, then we'll deal with it." I watched every game last year, decked out in Bears blue. I DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH IT. I'm sick of watching a team go from Super Bowl to Super ****. History doesn't necessarily HAVE to repeat itself: the legacy of mediocre Bears QB's can come to an end. Coincidental, though, that the Grossman deal happened so closely to Favre's retirement.
Perhaps the defense can return to 2006 form. Perhaps Hallas Hall knows something that I don't. What I do know is I'm sick of burger-counter dudes from NY making fun of the Bears. I'm sick of thinking that any random bloake on the EL can run the Bears better than they can. As much as I'm looking forward to the draft, I'm expecting to be disappointed and full of questions. But I'll fill my gut full of beer and hope for the best, like I do every year.
Go BEARS!

I think it's just one of those "Chicago is stuck on band-aid brand cus band-aid's stuck on Jerry Angelo" or something like that. That wouldn't make a good Band-Aid jingle though, would it?
And Hester is going to fail on the offense. His football IQ is about the equivalent of a mute without a TV, phone, internet connection, legs, arms or a head.
Wishful thinking that we can be a successful D again next year. We can only pray at this point, buddy. Good blog.

Report Offensive CommentI agree with what you guys are saying except for letting Berrian go being a mistake. He was way over paid. Although they are re-signing major contributors it is hard to watch a team in the great financial situation that the Bears are in just basically standing pat in FA when you have a team like Cleveland shoring up there offensive line and getting a quality receiver. We have not attacked any weaknesses, basically picking up a number 3 and 4 receiver. It better be one hell of a draft. Either way, win, lose or draw and as painful as it might be my Sundays will be spent watching the team that I love. Our Chicago Bears!!!!!!!!

Report Offensive CommentI'll say our Defense as it is right now is good enough to be great. Later rounds for depth. When everyone comes back off IR and is ready to play, we'll be fine. We do have unproven rookies in Bazuin,Akwo, and Payne played good b4 he got hurt and is trying to get back to where he was. If Bazuin and Akwo play up to expectations, we'll have 4really good DEs and a really good LBing group and our Dline will be better because of it.
Now Offense. We havn't got an offensive line. We didn't have one last year or the year before that. Our QBs, regardless what anybody says about them are not bad QBs. Grossman has made mistakes but all QBs in the leagues makes mistakes. Its part of the game. It happens. He s got a great arm and when given time to get rid of the ball, it more often than not, hits its mark. Kyle Orten may get the start which wouldn't be bad. Grossman I think has the better arm altho Orten isn't far behind. I think Orten moves in the pocket a little better and is taller to see the field better. Either one of these guys can lead this team it we have a good line to protect them.
One thing Ditka had when he coached here was a BALLBUSTER OL
Losing Mohamed or Berrian where not big loses. We'v already replaced Mohamed with Booker, which in my humble opinion, will be more a Bear than Mohamed ever was. Even though I liked Berrian, I'm glad JA didn't pay that kind of money for him. He wasn't worth it. He is average at best w/speed. Or better put-REPLACABLE. And if this new guy we got from Washington has an attitude change, we may have already improved our WR corp. Keep Positive. I want to see our beloved BEARS do well and I'm always catching Hell here in southern Mississippi when I go to the Casino s wearing my vintage #51 jersey, especially when Da Bears are playing the Saints. And as long as they keep beating the Saints, things will be fine.
Running Back, we need one. If Benson has any ability or desire to play in the NFL, it'll show up this year. I honestly think he can do it. The question is, is it for love of money or love of game that drives this guy? I sure did like T.Jones. Our backup RBs are as good as we can expect for backups. And who knows, maybe Garrett Wolfe will come into his own after he's over the shock of being in the NFL.
One more thing. I think Mr Turner needs to get a little more imagination to his play calling. His system is not a bad system. But everybody on the defense always seems to know where the ball is going.
We haven't got a bad ballclub. We get our line blocking and opening up holes for the RBs, we'r gonna put pts on the board and our D is going to keep the competition in check. Keep positive Its going to be a great year.

Report Offensive Commentdude44, it is nice to hear someone as positive as you about a situation that so many are not. I too believe our QB's are okay. It is all about the OL, they have gotten old and slow. And we definitely moved the wrong RB. Benson has no heart and TJ ran hard every play.

Report Offensive CommentHeres a thought. It s not going to happen but, What If-last year we kept T.Jones and got rid of C. Benson. Now this year JA makes a deal with Dallas and brings J.Jones to Chicago. To me, I think that would have been awsome. Da Jones Bros.
Of course, it's only a thought. But I sure did like T.Jones. And as much as I love my Bears, I havn't ever seen that kink of imagination from the fron office.
