How bad is the AFC right now? The Texans, at 2-10, still have a mathematical chance to make the playoffs. If you thought it was bad enough a couple of years ago when the 7-9 Seahawks won their division, just wait until a year like this after the NFL adds two teams to the playoffs in 2015. Why is it that every idea that seems to come out of the NFL offices (games and/or teams in Europe, 18-game schedules, Super Bowl in NY, this idea) seems to be such a colossally bad decision? Are these people really the minds in charge of our favorite pasttime? What's next? Games every Thursday? Oh wait...

Well it's almost mid-week, and folks are still talking about what may have been the most exciting finish to a college football game - or even any sporting event ever - Saturday's match up between Auburn and Alabama. Now the question becomes should Auburn leap-frog Ohio State for the #2 slot and a chance to play in the National Championship game. It's ironic this all happens in the last year the BCS will be with us. What a perfect way for the BCS to go out - that is of course, unless Jameis Winston gets suspended and the "#1" team ends up playing a 3rd string QB in the title game. That would be even more fitting. The sad joke that is the BCS could not have picked a better swan song.

Hey, That's Kate Upton!

We've now reached December, and you know what that means - time to get sick of hearing Christmas carols everywhere. Also, the NBA is starting to get in gear. Yet to make an appearance this season is the LA Lakers $30 million man, Kobe Bryant. That's how much they are paying him this year for 0 points in 0 minutes so far. Oh of course, he'll be back soon. The Lakers have a .500 basketball team this year without him, so when he comes back that'll mean what? Who knows? The West seems to be loaded with teams hovering around .500 this year, and there could be a good chance that Kobe's return disrupts any flow the Lakers have so far. As for the future, Kobe decided out of the goodness of his heart (actually according to reports the Lakers and Kobe hardly negotiated at all) to take a paycut for what should be his last two years. Instead of taking a raise like he was entitled too, he will take a $6.5 million paycut next year, and then only take a modest $1.5 million raise for his 20th and final season. Most folks think Kobe's open market value is about half that, and whatever player returns this year might even be worth less, but Kobe really wants to win a sixth ring. Apparently not as much as he wants to get paid.

It is the end of the year, and that also means all those "Best of the Year" lists are going to start popping up soon. Do you know what the top 3 grossing movies of 2013 were? 1. Iron Man 3, 2. Despicable Me 2, and 3. Fast and Furious 6 - who says original ideas are dead? No wonder I hardly ever watch movies anymore. Oh well.

Have fun, and drink good beer.
