What should the Raiders do this off season besides moving back to LA?

Don't drink the Coolaid on drafting a QB in the early rounds. Go one more year with Pryor and McGloin and add Josh McCown into the mix. Another "bandage" at the QB position would be Michael Vick. Next years NFL Draft will have a much better pool selection for QBs.

NFL Draft Needs: Select key defensive players! First round, possibly go after Jadeveon Clowney or Mike Evans.

Free Agents: Get Eric Decker and Fred Davis or trade for Josh Gordon. The Raiders need people that can run proper routes and catch the ball. Take a chance on Ben Tate or Maurice Jones-Drew. On defense the Raiders can target a DL like Henry Melton and/or add a DB in the likes of Tim Jennings.

Coaching Staff: Keep the Head Coach, but find a better Offensive Coordinator.

What say you Raider Nation?

Avoiding Vick at all costs. Damaged goods.

Pryor still under contract for one more year, if no progress can be cut at end of preseason with minimal cap hit.

RM's going to draft a QB. Just not in the 1st round.

If Clowney isn't there at #5, try to trade down for an extra pick.

Draft D-Line.

Sign a stud DE in Free Agency.

Pay Tracy Porter.

Do not pay Mike Jenkins.

Get a playmaker on offense. WR.

We've already been through the McClown experience. But I like the band-aid approach. QB depth chart should be

#1 Band Aid guy
#2 McGloin
#3 RM's draft pick (I'm guessing 3rd rounder this time/ 2nd rounder if 1st round pick can be moved for an additional pick)

Pay Rashad Jennings.

Pay Veldheer.

Pay Lamarr Houston.

Do not pay McFadden (obvious).

Get some better depth everywhere.

I agree with a lot of your suggestions.

except

Maurice Jones-Drew, I think the gas gauge is on empty with him, RB's don't last forever.

Pryor- I just don't him ever being elite type QB but I'd like it if I was wrong.

What if Mansiel is available around 12th and some other team wants the no. 5 pick to get Clowney or whomever, would you trade it and get him plus maybe a mid 3rd rounder?

Think about how you set up your offense, if it is all setup for Pryor then you need a QB behind Pryor that can run the same offense. To me a Mansiel type QB is what you'd want. Now who would be 1st string and who would be a backup would be determined in camp.
and
Of course there are other QB's out there besides Mansiel that play that game.

Just seems to me if you go in one direction you need a backup that plays the same game.

Having said that why is Carson Palmer doing so well in Arizona and he was a flop in Oakland, and Matt Flynn doing so well in G.B.

Could it be the coaching staff? that is why I really agree with you when they need to keep the coaches and get some direction.

Flynn was 2-4 in GB. Not exactly lighting the world on fire. He did better with them though than with us due to Green Bay having better personnel around him. Same with CP. Arizona has been a good team that just lacked a QB. Oakland lacks a QB, but still has many other holes besides that.

I don't even think Pryor makes the final cut next year. I've honestly seen enough of him.

If Clowney is available at 5 - you take him. Otherwise shop the pick.

And I don't agree Manziel's game is similar to Pryor. Manziel looks like he can actually throw sometimes.

Everything? So many needs, so much money... Hopefully the decisions that are made are good ones. This offseason is going to be the start of the foundation of the Raiders future.

agreed. Pryor experiment did not pan out and McGloin looks good carrying clipboard for true #1 QB. Personally I would say pass on QB in round 1 unless Manziel is there. Watched a bunch of his games and he has a drive to him.....kind of a shorter Stabler to me and he can whip the ball to where he wants. Just ask Saban if he is happy or sad he moved on to the NFL from the SEC.....

No chance we need M J-D. He already had his time. I do like the cap friendly contract we got for McFadden. That is...until he gets hurt again. Really wish we kept Veldere. Maybe there was more to the story of him leaving. I hope so. B/c he was a stud on the line.

Veldheer played in just 5 games last season. I like the Austin Howard signing, he seems like a good player.

And we added a few veterans in Tuck, Woodley and Smith to the DL.

Schaub could be a good band aid guy. Think he could benefit from a change of scenery.

Re Veldheer, I read an article that insinuated his brother, who is also his agent, was a large part in him not staying in Oakland. The deal he signed and the deal offered by the Raiders was pretty close - except for the guaranteed money.

To be honest, I think both he and Houston wanted to leave. Deals done in the first 15 minutes of FA typically indicate so.

Raiders and Texans talking about a trade for Schaub. They better restructure his contract.

I'd prefer the Texans release him outright and the Raiders just sign him.
