The Dodgers opened up the Cactus League with a phenominal 8-2 win over the Chicago White Sox. Los Angeles now sits with a 9-13 record through Spring Training thus far. Hopefully, they'll make or break .500 before the 2008 Regular Season swings around.
Rafael Furcal went four for five today, with a homerun and a double. The short-stop is batting .327 in the Pre-Season with five triples. Believe it or not, he has more triples in Spring Training 2008 thus far than he had in the entire 2007 Regular Season. If he continues to stay healthy, he will produce splendid statistics in the upcoming season.
Matt Kemp connected on a beautiful three-run homerun off of Octavio Dotel. The White Sox relief pitcher gave up five runs in only 1/3 of an inning pitched. Chicago's off-season acquisition isn't looking like a great investment.
Brad Penny picked up his second win of the Pre-Season in six innings. The ace struck out three batters, lowering his Earned-Run Average to a stunning 0.56 in Spring Training. But since Johan Santana entered the National League, Penny will have a difficult road to the National League's sacred Cy Young Award in 2008.
Tomorrow, the Los Angeles Dodgers will face-off against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Several baseball fans, including some users on FanNation, predict that the Diamondbacks will finish the 2008 Regular Season at first-place in the NL West. This will be our first taste of our potential competition.

nice. Do you think furcal is getting his swing back? We could have a problem brewing at third, with normar having a broken bone in his hand. We'll have to see.

Furcal's contract ends after the season. It'll be interesting as to where he ends up if he has a very good year. Dotel can never stay healthy. At least for a full year.
Is Matt Kemp hooked for a regular playing spot?

I definitely think that Furcal is finding his groove in Los Angeles. Also, I'm going to make a post (probably tomorrow) concerning the Dodgers' situation at third-base. Thankfully, we have a ton of depth in our infield. (We're going to use it in 2008).

I hope that Furcal will stay with the Dodgers. He has been a great asset to our organization, and it would be sad to see him go.
Dotel has really fallen from his status a couple of years ago. He'll be contemplating retirement soon, if he continues to play like this.
Matt Kemp is expected (I don't believe it's been finalized) to start in Right-Field. Below is what our outfield will look like:
LF: Juan Pierre/Andre Ethier
CF: Andruw Jones
RF: Matt Kemp

I think I heard that Ethier may platoon with Kemp. Also Ethier may be trade bait if they are looking outside the org for a temp 3rd baseman.

I hope the Dodgers don't trade Ethier away.
