The Dodgers opened up the Cactus League with a phenominal 8-2 win over the Chicago White Sox. Los Angeles now sits with a 9-13 record through Spring Training thus far. Hopefully, they'll make or break .500 before the 2008 Regular Season swings around.
Rafael Furcal went four for five today, with a homerun and a double. The short-stop is batting .327 in the Pre-Season with five triples. Believe it or not, he has more triples in Spring Training 2008 thus far than he had in the entire 2007 Regular Season. If he continues to stay healthy, he will produce splendid statistics in the upcoming season.
Matt Kemp connected on a beautiful three-run homerun off of Octavio Dotel. The White Sox relief pitcher gave up five runs in only 1/3 of an inning pitched. Chicago's off-season acquisition isn't looking like a great investment.
Brad Penny picked up his second win of the Pre-Season in six innings. The ace struck out three batters, lowering his Earned-Run Average to a stunning 0.56 in Spring Training. But since Johan Santana entered the National League, Penny will have a difficult road to the National League's sacred Cy Young Award in 2008.
Tomorrow, the Los Angeles Dodgers will face-off against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Several baseball fans, including some users on FanNation, predict that the Diamondbacks will finish the 2008 Regular Season at first-place in the NL West. This will be our first taste of our potential competition.
