The NCAA Tournament began today, and let's just say that it wasn't a whole lot of fun IMO. Maybe it's because I love the midmajor upset of the major program, but this year's brackets just were not too enjoyable in comparison to past years. Only one game came down to the buzzer as #2 Duke escaped #15 Belmont with the Blue Devils coming away with the victory. Over in the Midwest Region, two of the top midmajors ended up matched up against each other as UNLV jumped out to a 31-10 halftime lead and handled Kent State without trouble. In the classic 5/12 match-up, #12 George Mason couldnot hang with #5 Notre Dame as the Irish won by 18. #13 Winthrop looked to be a Cinderella tied with #4 Washington State 29-29 at the half, but a 42-11 second half gave the Cougars an easy win. At the end of the day, just two lower seeds won as #11 Kansas State knocked off #6 USC and #9 Texas A&M defeated #8 BYU. Let's just hope Friday makes the 2008 NCAA Tournament a bit more exciting.
