Let me start off by asking who couldn't love college basketball? The players here have much more passion than the NBA. Money is not a factor in how they play, when they play, or who they play for. They play because they love the game. With so much at stake in the NCAA Tournament, these players put their heart and soul into their game. This power allows almost any team to be upset if their opponent tries hard enough (Duke vs. Belmont) and greatly increases the joy taken felt while watching the games. When was the last time you saw Kobe Bryant playing his guts out for his team in the playoffs? Last time I checked it was all me, me, me and I, I, I. When in a crisis, Kobe has just as quickly given up on and betrayed the Lakers as a the Colts on Baltimore. The main thing about the college game is that most the time, there is no name on the back of the jersey. The players play for the name on the front only. They lay it all on the line for a school, a team, and the fans. That's the way all sports should be played. Let us all make a resolution today to play a little more unselfishly, a little harder, with a little more class. But most of all just have fun playing the game the way it was meant to be played.
