My favorite writer, Irish Stew Mandell, has ranked UGA #1 in his pre-preseason poll. Good for him. It could happen, but several things have to fall in place. Here is the short list: 1) Everybody stays healthy. Sure, Dawgs have depth, but everyone knows injuries to key players can hamstring a season in a hurry. (Ask Sneaky Pete Caroll). I don't want to hear Munson moaning and groaning about having no linemen left when we are 4 games in next year. 2) Beat Tennessee. Georgia lost the SEC , and a shot at the title, for losing to the wretched Orange Tees. Ainge is out, several of their other starters are gone, and we are really, really mad about them trashing our season last year by the upset. This year, we need to beat them 55-3. 3) Knowshon must get stronger. Thomas Brown broke tackles at the line of scrimmage when Moreno got stuffed. This was the difference maker in the Tech game. Here's hoping Moreno does some serious squats in the offseason, if he wants to be the "go to" back. 4) More yards per completion passing. Stafford gets better each year. Having more long bombs always goes a long way toward more points on the board. We need AJ Green to be ready to rock and roll by about the UT game this year. 5) Have the wonderful defense score a few more TD's this year. This has a powerful demoralizing effect on an opponent. Remember when we crushed UT 41-14 a few years ago after yanking the momentum from them by stealing a shovel pass and returning it about 900 yards for a TD? Boy, I would love to see that happen again. INT's returned for a TD are just as good. That kind of stuff makes Spurrier hysterical. 6) Spread offense-don't believe the hype. No fear of schemes or superstars for the Dawgs this year. Nobody was supposed to be able to stop Hawaii, remember? After last year, Tebow better be scared of us, not the other way around. 7) Win the friggin SEC. Seems like that is what you have to do here recently to win the NC. Ok, that's all. GO DAWGS. Like this post? Caleb King could be the other back to go to if Knowshon isn't doing so well. Then again, King did say that he was quicker and Knowshon was stronger, so we'll see how the works out. Maybe Dontavious Jackson or Richard Samuel can be the power back.

I think Mohammed Massoquoi will become the go to receiver in '08. He didn't have many drops in '07 like he did in '06. Kenneth Harris and Demiko Goodman will be the speedy guys that will cause the long bombs, and Kris Durham will be the underneath man like Wes Welker.
