The Expos trade Randy Johnson to the Mariners for Mark Langston: This trade wasen't awful, but it was still pretty stupid. The Expos had a chance to win the division when they made this trade. They finished with a 81-81 record. 4th place. Langston went 12-9. Randy Johnson did a whole lot of other things.
The Mets trade Tom Seaver to the Reds for Pat Zachry, two infielders, and a prospect. The Mets have still never had a no-hitter. As soon as Seaver got hauled outta NY, he throws one with the Reds. This trade began the implosion of the Met franchise in the 70's. Meanwhile Pat Zachrt, who was the big piece of the trade, broke his foot. Then he sucked.
The Cubs trade Ivan DeJuses to the Phillies for Larry Bowa and Ryne Sandberg: this one was just moronic. Larry Bowa had a very good career and Sandberg is now in the HOF. As for Ivan, he lasted three mediocre seasons. Good job, Phillies.
Cardinals trade Dan Haren and Kiko Calero to the A's for Mark Mulder: This one is starting to look very bad. Mulder has been a tremendous disappointment. On the other side of the coin, Dan Haren is now a stud who has ace stuff. Even Kiko has been good in the bullpen.
Devil Rays trade Bobby Abreu to the Phillies for Kevin Stocker: Now Bobby is with the Yankees, but the Devil Rays should have at least got more for him or kept him. Kevin was a shortstop. He got traded 3 years later to the Angels.
The Yankees trade Jose Contreras to the White Sox for Esteban Loaiza: This one was just ugly. Esteban went 1-2 with a ERA of 8.50. Contreras did something the Yankees haven't done for a while now: won the WS.
The Rangers trade Travis Hafner and Aaron Myette to the Indians for Einar Diaz and Ryan Drese: This one is gonna hurt the Rangers for a lllloooooonnnngggggggg time. They need a DH. I guess they needed Ryan Drese more.
The Rangers trade Alfonso Soriano to the Nationals for Brad Wilkerson, Termel Sledge, and Armando Galarraga: Another bad one by the Rangers. The Rangers couldn't get anyone better? Brad has been a complete bust, Sledge is a mediocre back-up outfielder, and I have no idea who is Armando Galarraga.
