NFL Picks, Predictions and Fantasy Football Notes - AFC West

If you were like me and you watched your NCAA bracket disintegrate to nothing this weekend then you will welcome a little NFL talk. And today, it is time for you and I to explore the AFC West.

My prediction for this division seems pretty cut and dry - as far as the winner goes anyway - but after that I think it is sort of a crap shoot. Let’s get right to it. Here’s the way I have it.

2008 AFC West Final Standings:

1) San Diego Chargers

2) Denver Broncos

3) Oakland Raiders

4) Kansas City Chiefs

Thoughts:
Last year the Chargers started slow and...stop by by my fantasy football blog to read the reasons for my picks and a few fantasy football notes.

Good blog.

Thanks for reminding me that my bracket wasn't the only one to "blow up" and for this solid post.

dyhard you just moved WAY up in my book.

Truth is that Tomlinson's knee is still hurting, will even keep him out of mini camp, Rivers is on crutches, and will be for another 4-5 months, and the team lacks depth with Turner taking off.

I wouldn't be shocked to see the Chargers flop next year, look at thier history about every 4-5 years they are good for a 3-13 season.

also, may want to fix the blog, it says AFC North standings.

happy Easter to you too. Goin with the Broncos. I can't pick them until I see some d.

Thanks for the comments and the props.

Thanks RU,

Yeah, I can't imagine we are the only ones with the bracket blues.

Thanks BS,

Thanks big time for the North catch!

3-13...wow thats a hell of a drop off. Those are some great insights as well. I will look a little deeper next time, I didn't catch the Rivers injury.

I'm not going to say 3-13, but 13-3 isn't going to happen either.

Rivers tore an ACL (maybe the MCL too but don't quote me there), and the Tomlinson injury seems to be a bigger deal than they thought.

I'm goin with Broncos up top

Chargers will top the charts again this season, run L.T. run!

Im not picking the Chargers or Broncos to be division champs just yet,but whomever gets a strong start can keep the "MO" into the middle of the season and cruise in the weak AFC West. Raiders and Chiefs wont be a factor this coming season...

Mixed bag...thanks for the comments guys.

and All About Life and Sports...I'm not so sure you can dicount the Raiders. They may not win it but they will be pesky.

BSchwartz07, Welcome home as I just came back from AFGHAN... Don't think your tracking the injuries entirely correct, LT's injury doesn't need surgery, which is good news and will be back in time for his usual playing time. Remember he doesn't participate in pre-season games and the injury happend when and its what March now. They are in good position again this year even with Turner gone. Still time to find a back to fill that spot in FA or the Draft. Don't know where your getting your stats from on the Chargers, but they are one of the top teams in tact this year with talent and definately have the top spot again in the AFC West, within the top three in the AFC, play-off bound once again and better capitalize on things this go around. THere are only two injuries that are possibly bleeding into the regular season and that's Gates and Hardwick for sure. Everyone else is looking smooth at this time.

The Raiders are better than the Broncos or the Chiefs. What have Denver or KC done to improve their football teams?
