They don't need to do any extra work to hype it if it's really that good. For the record I think MOST of sports is overhyped. Super Bowl and NCAA Tourney Time being the biggest culprits. If you go back 5 years, you'll see what I mean... the Tourney was still great for BBall fans, but there was less of the 24/7 crush. It's not the Tourney itself that ultimately is to blame, but this insane news cycle that doesn't end.
This level of information is simply unnecessary and invasive, but I fully expect most people to disagree with me. I don't expect my opinions to be agree'd with, but I also don't expect to agree with yours. And most importantly, declaring something the 'BEST' is pure opinion, just as an FYI. I consider the NCAA the worst because it completely erases anything else in it's wake. As the post above indicates, I'm excited for the Hockey tourney, but that gets zero coverage - I know, it's not a draw, but I happen to think it -SHOULD- be.
The real culprit here is that everyone is chasing the buck, and in a NEWS aspect, it should be about covering everything, not maximizing profit. I understand everyone is a business, but it's that very fact that bothers me - report on all things equally, as an impartial reporting service should - and THEN add extra content for the big sellers if you're worried about your profit margin.
Of course, I fully expect that this kind of opinion will be frowned upon, but I'm not worried about that. It's my opinion, and I'll stick by it.
