So far the Cowboys have been quiet and that is okay.  They have kept a core of a 13-3 team and nobody who will play a crucial part of this team will be gone.

How I look it at it and most others I see our needs in this order.

CB, RB, WR, then depth at DT and Saftey

Looking at the draft I believe that the freedom we have will be great and I look at a situation to get all three of our needs in the first two rounds.

Right now I am hoping the draft will turn out something like this

22- Limas Sweed TX or Talib KS or Jenkins USF  I really like Sweed being the bigger reciever and a injury that would not seem to cause future problems, he reminds me a lot of Roy Williams.

Either one of these corners is good with me as after McClendin and Cromartie I dont believe there is a surefire corner next in line

28- One of these that would fall but more likely Manningham UM or Cason UA If we take the corner I would like a guy like Manningham who besides some drops here and there has all the tools to develop into a number 1.  Cason was also a great corner in college and ran great and any one of these 3 corners could provide some depth behind TNew and Henry.

2nd round- I hope he is still here... Chris Johnson from East Carolina, I believe that him alone could be a wow that Jerry is looking for.  He obviously has amazing speed after running a 4.24 but the factor that really intrigues me is his hands.  This running back can run routes and go downfield and make catches.  We could use him and Barber just like the Saints used McCalister and Bush last year on their run to the NFC Championship.

I am one of the fans who would love to add Pacman for a forth or fifth round pick.  However I do think that it should not change how we draft for our corner need.  If Pacman does come back and can stay out of trouble then we could add a 24 year old super talented corner and return man for a forth round pick.  His contract also would only be base salaries after the trade and if it did not work out he could just be released and we could move on.

However, I do not want to go after Chad Johnson.  Whether it would work with him and TO or not is beyond me.  First of all I do not believe we could afford him and there is no way ROmo could ever get it to the right person.  Chad would provide another great offensive weapon but I think we have to develop our own recievers and we could have some good ones in Hurd, Stanback, and Austin and the first round pick gives us more freedom to get the younger and cheaper players we need.  Although Chad could make our offense legendary I just do not see the benefits of adding another receiver who needs the ball, has a huge ego, and loves to make problems when he doesnt.

Let me know what you think

I haven't looked that far into the draft, because I'm pretty sure Jerry Jones is gonna move up and snag McFadden by spending both his 1st Rd picks. And I also hear a rumor that possibly Jerry would trade next year's 1st Rd pick to Cinci for Ocho Cinco. Not totally sure that's viable, but it's a scenario that's been brought up.

I'd like to see:

Malcolm Kelly (WR - Oklahoma) with the 22nd pick. He can step in and be a productive big 2nd target for Romo and eventually take over for T.O. down the road. He's got size and has been productive in big games in college. He wants that ball on 3rd and 4th downs and has great body control in the air. *A burner later in the draft like Dexter Jackson (WR- Appalachian State) or Donnie Avery (WR - Houston) would match very well if they are around in the 3rd or fourth rounds.

Kenny Phillips (S/CB - Miami) with the 28th pick. He can provide some secondary help immediately with his athleticism and be a ballhawk staple in the future.

what do you think about getting the best available cornerback with our second round pick for future depth, and trading a 4th or 5th rounder for pacman, that way cb is basically covered. then we trade next years 1st rounder for chad johnson, whatever you say about him, he is undoubtedly better than any receiver we would get in the first round. then we would be free to trade up with both of our first rounders to get dmac. That way we have dmac who is far better than chris johnson. pacman + second round corner (or if one of the first round talents drops to the second round maybe trade our second and 3rd to move to get a cason early in the second round) so corner might not be as great as in your scenario, but i think with pacman we would be fine. Then we would also have Chad Johnson who like i said would be better than anyone in the draft. Thats a great improvement in WR and RB and the only downside to it compared to yours would be getting a second round talent cb instead of a late 1st rounder. Offense: Romo tossing to T.O./ocho cinco (best WR duo in the league) and handing off to Dmac/barber (best RB duo in the league) combined with a solid offensive line, and one of the best tight ends in the game, we would have 0 weaknesses on offense. Defense: Our front 7 is solid as it is, and by adding pacman and a second rounder our secondary would be greatly improved from last year with jacque reeves and nate jones. Our corners would be extremely solid, and our only real weakness would be roy williams in coverage, but i think with our cbs we would be able to cover that for the most part and blitz him a lot more leaving our dbs in man to man coverage. Just another excited cowboy fan ready for the draft and the season to start!

why does everyone wont to be a cowboy??? it seems like everyone thats a free agent has atleast been mentioned to go to dallas. why? because when you think of champions, you think of dallas. 13-3 last year, with another player they could have had a ring, the one thing each player stives for every year. If the cowboys do pick up chad johnson or pacman, why not sign them to a contract worth twice the amount those stars spend in a weekend, and if they really want to win a championship they will do what ever it takes even if it means a "pay cut" if you call it that. I love the cowboys and i love what they have done with the resigning of players like romo and barber because they have proved they are one of a kind and cannot be replaced. Pacman and C.Johnson are great players but they havent proved anything in silver and blue yet.

jakester13q, Your scenario is obviously would make the boys offense legendary. However if u trade for Ocho Cinco he gets a new contract along with Randy Moss's contract at 9 mil a year. If u go get DMac and at the latest 7th overall, I could see it being about 6 year 40-45 mil 20 guaranteed. These two would greatly limit the chances of DWare and Tnew getting the contracts they want.
If we stay put at were we r I believe we can be just as good if we add Johnson, Talib or Jenkins, Manningham or Kelly or Sweed,
IF we add pacman as well our secondary could be greatly improved and we would be the frontrunners in the NFC without adding the two huge salaries you suggest.
ANd by the way I would hmuch rather go get DMac then Chad but i just do not see it being feasible to go get one or both of these guys if we want to keep our two best defensive players in the next two years

Everyone always gets excited about the Cowboys! Not even a playoff win in ten years ... that is horrible. They did well last year ... but they are proven losers until they do something. I don't understand the mystique of the Cowboys ... always horrible people playing for them, ugly ugly uniforms and an unlikable owner.

maybe the mystique is that they have been to the most super bowls and won the most super bowls and had one of the best dynastys in nfl history and therefore their fan base is bigger than every other team. Proven losers based on what they were rebuilding up untill about three years ago, and now they have proven they r losers in wut 2 playoff games, man good thing peyton didnt get run out of the nfl after 2 playoff losses
