It's been 10 days since my last Bayern post and I'm happy to announce that there are many exciting new developments happening for Germany's winningest team.

Where to begin? Ah yes... Jurgen Klinsmann.

One of the greatest strikers in German history and successful DFB coach is now coaching FC Bayern Munich. Former coach Der General--Ottmar Hitzfeld--will be moving on to greener, Swiss pasture's as the new coach of the Swiss national team. He has experience in the country as former coach of Grasshopper Club Zurich. Coaching a national team is a very prestigious placement but moving from Bayern to Switzerland has been called a step down by some. Regardless, I wish him well as he certainly turned things around for Bayern this season. The team lies in 1st in the league, dominant in UEFA and tearing through the DFB Cup. But back to Klinsmann.

I must say the news shocked me. Heck, it even shocked Beckenbauer who only heard about it the day the story went public. This was so secret even Jesus wasn't given the heads up. Why the secrecy? Rumours were spreading that the former Bayern striker was going to Spain or England to coach but decided on Bayern. The move makes sense. He knows most of the players from the WC. He knows most of the management from his playing days for the national team and for Bayern. But most importantly the man and his family are back in their country of birth. This to me is more important than anything else.

As if that news isn't big enough, Bayern are heading the table with a convincing 7 point lead over chasing Hamburger SV. With less then 10 regular season games remaining it looks like the Reds are in a good position to secure the league. This is a significant jump for a team that placed a mediocre 4th last season.

In a little over a week Bayern will face off against Spanish minnows Getafe FC in the UEFA Cup. This will be the first time the two teams have ever met. The bookies are saying that this is Bayern's game to lose but the men from Spain have enjoyed streaking success in UEFA so far. Bayern are not taking this game lightly as Getafe's league results have proven the team can win. Getafe has enjoyed wins over Madrid, Sevilla and even Barca this season in La Liga.

If Bayern continue at the pace they are going the team would enjoy 4 pieces of silverware this season: DFL League Cup Champs, DFB Cup Champs, League Champs and UEFA Cup Champs.

It could prove interesting for Prinz Poldi. I don't think he will become the best in the world but he does need some encouragement. Hitzfeld has favoured Klose and Toni as they are more established.
