Only hours ago in the Build Up for Strikeforce/EliteXC 29 March card I posted the below number. Unfortunately, Pro Elite has just announced that Jake Shields has withdrawn from the fight due to an undisclosed injury. This is really disappointing as it was looking to be a great match up and no new opponent has been named for Fickett...at least for now their combined winning percentage will remain at 84.7.
847 The combined winning percentage (84.7) of Jake Shields 20-4-1, and Drew Fickett 32-5. The two will hook up on Saturday in a very intriguing match up. Shields has been extremely impressive of late with a nine fight win streak in which he’s beat guys like Yushin Okami, Dave Menne, Carlos Condit, and Mike Pyle, among others. His last loss came way back in December 2004. Drew Fickett is no slouch either. He is 8-2 in his last ten fights with a 4-2 record in the UFC. He demonstrated his experience in his last fight in December ’07 at Cage Rage 24 when Mark Weir pounced on him early. Fickett remained calm, waited for an opening, and then took advantage by finishing the fight with a RNC. It will be interesting to see who prevails in this one.
