The card is actually looking great, but it's been a roller coaster ride so far. First Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos had to be scratched because of Visa problems leaving Joey Villasenor without an opponent. Then yesterday Jake Shields had to withdraw from his fight with Drew Fickett due to a back injury. Of course both of these issues are just kind of part of the sport, even the Visa deal which seems to happen frequently. But the event has redeemed itself by finding a couple other good fights for the televised card. And here are the numbers to prove it:
134 Time (1:34) Wayne Cole has fought in 2008, good for two victories, both by submission and in under a minute. The victories pushed Cole's record to 10-6. On Saturday he'll hook up with heavyweight Mike Kyle who has not had as much luck recently, matter of fact he hasn't had much of anything recently. His last fight was way back in May of 2006 and his last three bouts have finished with a loss, a draw, and a loss. With a 9-6-1 record he'll be looking to get back on track and in a big way since the bout will be televised on Showtime. Only three of their 32 combined fights have gone to a decision, look for this one to end with somebody going to sleep!
246 Record (24-6) of Joey Villasenor. He was scheduled to hook up with "Cyborg" Santos on Saturday, but as you read, Santos is out and now Ryan Jensen is in. Jensen is 11-3 but riding a two fight losing streak. Both losses came in the UFC against Thales Leites and Demian Maia. Villasenor is 1-1 in his last two fights with the loss coming against the always tough Murilo Rua. This fight offers both men a great opportunity to show the world their skills.
Pro Elite has the full card.
And to reward those who've read this far...a little more from the hilariously dumb, Dumb and Dumber...
Harry: Where's the booze?
Lloyd: I got robbed by a sweet old lady on a motorized cart. I didn't even see it comin'!
[Harry starts to moan in despair.]
Lloyd: Oh, come on buddy, it's not that bad...come on, man...
Harry: It gets worse, Lloyd. Y'know my parakeet Petey?
Harry: He's dead.
Lloyd: Oh man...I'm sorry...what happened?
Harry: His head fell off.
Lloyd: His head fell off?
Harry: Yeah, he was pretty old.
One more because it makes me laugh every time...
Lloyd: Funny. I expected the Rocky Mountains to be a little rockier than this.
Harry: I was thinking the same thing. That John Denver's full of ****, man.
