If you're a Tigers fan like me, that cracking sound you hear is not coming from Miggy's thunderstick, it's this team's ceiling caving in on itself due to all the rockets launched off the Beng's 4th & 5th pitchers and middle relievers. Not to be a pessimist, but does anyone else think we're all a little too excited about this meat grinder lineup, and in denial about the fact that our hill-toppers could be hanging by their whiskers all season long, hoping the bats come to the rescue? I for one think we're really going to miss the arm/potential of Jair Jurrjens sooner than later - though the trade off in getting shortstop E dot Rent an average will be nice for the offense. And maybe a little Levan Hernandez action, the sale-priced Kyle Lohse or the recently released Claudio Vargas could have/could still give the Tigs some much needed depth? Bottom line, I love what Dombrowski is trying here, and I can't thank him/Illitch/Leyland/Pudge enough for making Tigers baseball matter again, but I really wonder if the throwing-all-our-chips-in-now with a questionable current and future pitching staff is going to result in a WS title. I still think we can pull it off, but that's putting an awful lot of faith in a guy who still seems to be struggling with his once feared delivery (D-Train), a 30-something wooden-style roller coaster (T Jones) and the contribution of a guy who can't even get through spring training without crushing a knuckle into the wall on his pitching hand. And if Curtis 20Granderson can't make a quick come-back, that premptively-vaunted offense may not score the bazillion runs necessary to keep our staff in the hunt early. Every game will count this year in arguably the (tied for) best division in baseball. Here's to the hope that the D-Train regains its steam, 20Grand heals faster than Martha Stewart's image, and some little-known wunderkind shows up in the bullpen to protect our lead long enough for the roller coaster to eek out another season of heart-attack saves. Go Tigs!

D-Train has crashed...

the change in scenery for the d-train will make a difference. he will bounce back, and we will be world series champs. the team will just down right out hit teams, and that will take alot of pressure off the whole pitching staff.

tigersbaseball0023 - I really, really hope you're right. First order of business is to figure out why the F we can't beat the Royals right now.
