Well as many of you know, this group is dedicated to helping Noobs work there way up to be Legends. Well, I wouldn't consider myself a legend but my track record is pretty good, and thats why I have created the 5 easy steps to a good TD.
1) Choose an TD you can argue- Don't choose a TD that you "think" you can argue. An example would be "North Carolina will win the NCAA's" don't think you can argue that and come up with a stupid answer like "Well, Memphis is pretty good too." Which leads to the next step...
2) Get an outline of an arguement ready- Don't go into a TD and not know what to say. Have a basic idea of what your going to argue. Don't come in and just accept it because it's your first time and have no idea what to do, make sure you know what your doing.
3) If your going to make a TD, try to make sure only your way is right- Now when I say this I don't mean start a TD saying "Other then MJ Wilt Chamberlin is the greatest NBA player to ever live" I mean make sure you have tested the possibilitys and figured out a way to argue the tuff choices. If the choices are to close, dont make that TD.
4) Never admitt defeat- Newbies, NEVER ADMITT DEFEAT.It shows a complete sign of weakness and you can pretty much count your legend hopes dead and expect to be in the "Automatic Win" coloumn. No matter what fight your battles. I saw this one noob The Doc, he picked Miguel Olivo over Bengie Molina. The guy argued to the end and it ended in a tie. I give him my vote because of his willingness to fight.
5) Look at the formatting and be careful- You may not think it's dangerous but it is. If a guy seperates his TD into paragraphs you might want to steer clear. But if he doesn't, you know the guy doesn't know his stuff. I mean for me, I always look at formatting. And im sure some other veterans in the group would agree.
Well Newbies, I hope this helps.
