Whenever people talk about the NY Giants, immediately Tiki Barber is thrown into the conversation.  As a Giants fan I realize that his loss will be felt throughout our organization, but tothe chagrin of all the Giants fans, he won't be missed that much.  First, lets examine why everyone insists the opposite.  From 2002 until he retired in 2006, Tiki averaged over 1200 yds per season on an average of 275 carries, that's almost 100 yds per game with 4.4 yards per carry average.  When looking at those numbers,it doesn't seem that spectacular.  With that average, Tiki would need only twelve 100 yard games, not that hard in todays NFL with the 16 game schedule.  Throughout this time, Tiki had been struggling with fumblitis and an inability to find the endzone Don't believe me?  In that five year stretch, Tiki only had two seasons in double-digit touchdowns, TWO!  Yes, Tiki did elevate the whole team with some spectacular runs and some clutch carries, but instead of blaming Eli for their lack of production, look at a running game that didn't produce much.  Now, lets look at what the Giants have in their backfield now.  A little known back with the name of Brandon Jacobs.  Listen now Fannation because I'm calling it, this is his breakout year!  Be ready for me talking a lot of crap when he's pounding the ball a'la Jerome Bettis.  He led the team in rushing TD's last year which is huge for this team, we needed a back that could puthishead down and get the one or two yards needed to score.  The pick-up of Reuben Droughns is not to be underestimated. The kid can playball, not counting last year where he only started 12 games, Reuben averaged as much as Tiki in allof the fore-mentioned categories.  We have nothing to worry about in our backfield, the rest of the NFL should be worrying about us.

The reason Tiki didn't have more touchdowns is because Coughlin kept taking him out whenever they were in a short yardage situation. That doesn't mean Tiki couldn't have gotten the job done. For our season's sake and for Coughlin's job, I hope your right. If they're smart, the Giants would run a Bill Parcells ball control type offense to fit the talent that's in the backfield now. That would definitely reduce the pressure on which rookie takes the left tackle job from the now released Luke Pettigout.

Love what Barber has done. He arrived in the league under the radar and is leaving as one of the most consistent backs of the last decade. Not sure if he has HOF credentials, but I respect him for leaving on his terms.
