Ill be doing a three part series about all the MWR drivers, first up on this four the up and coming Michael McDowell.
McDowell was born on December 21, 1984 in Glendale, Arizona and began racing go-karts at an early age. After almost 10 years of go-kart racing he racked up the 1997 World Karting Association (WKA) National Championship, two undefeated International Karting Federation (IKF) seasons, and 18 consecutive main event victories. He also became the first teenager to ever race in an international racing event and in his first year in the Star Mazda Series,he finished second and the next year was the champion of the series.
In more recent news,McDowell finished second in his first full season of ARCA racing and won 4 races, nine poles,15 top 10's, 11 top 5's,and won the rookie of the year award. After that MWR decided to give him a shot.In three busch races last year he had 1 top 10 and finished in the top 20 for all of the three races.
Now that Dale Jarrett has offically retired and wont be in any more races,David decided to move into the #44 car for the rest of the season and so on.That move left the #00 car open and MWR decided to let there youngest racer have the chance of a lifetime in being the next driver of the car.McDowell has lots of potential that made him rise threw the ranks so quickly and should make a good regular since he has to great teachers in David and Michael teaching him how to win plus he takes over a car that has been good in the past, and he has a nack for winning something that all MWR fans will love
Look out for McDowell at Martinsville and for the rest of the Sprint Cup series races as he starts his long and hopefully championship run in NASCAR
