I've been thinking about writing about this for a while, that is, take a look at all the weirdest/funniest names and of teams and athletes and sports in this place we call Earth. I'll try to stay G rated here but I'm not promising anything.

Sports

1. Chess Boxing- A German based sport that involves two minute boxing rounds followed by four minute chess games. Believe me, I could not possibly make this up. My source says that the sport even has its own governing body, the World Chess Boxing Association. Their motto? "Fighting is done in the ring. Wars are waged on the board."

2. Elephant Polo- Polo is like soccer, except everyone rides horses and hits a small polo ball with a mallet towards the goal. Elephant polo puts a bit of a stretch on the game. You guessed it: Instead of horses, elephant polo uses elephants. Players sit on top of the elephants and hit the polo balls with longer mallets while a trainer sits on the elephants neck to steer. It is mandatory to drink afterwards. The game is popular in Sri Lanka, Thailand and Nepal.

3. There's a whole lists of contests where people throw things, including typewriters, cell phones, boots, haggis and even cow chips.

4. Camel Fights- Similar to cockfighting, only with camels. Two male camels go head to head until one falls, screams or backs away.
