                                       Edubb9197's Top College WR'S

Let it be known the Sec is stacked at receiver.

1. Earl Bennett, Junior, Vanderbilt - Everyone thought he was a product of Jay Cutler. He's not. Bennett is rewriting Vanderbilt history, and some SEC records. He is the most fearless receiver in the game. A do-it-all if you will. Not afraid to go over the middle, infact thats when he is at his best with his burly 195 pound frame. He caught 82 passes last season for 1,146 yards and six scores against some beastly SEC defenses. He gives Vandy a glimmer of hope every game, even against the powerhouses. Big Earl will guide Vandy to another bowl. He is the most clutch receiver, ask Tennesse. Bennett has no shot at the Heisman because no one knows who he is. He will be a top-10 pick when he decides to come out.

2. Desean Jackson, Junior, California - One of the nation's most feared players. He reminds me of Ted Ginn, except I didn't see Teddy go over the middle like this guy. He posseses 4.3 speed and moves that make fools jump out of their pants. Sure handed also. Look for him to dog the Pac-10 again with close to 2,000 all purpose yards and 15 td's. Jackson will carry qb Longshore through the season while he struggles without his saftey net, Marshawn Lynch, to a respectable record and a bowl game. The Heisman is a long-shot, but he is a top-20 prospect in next year's draft.

3. Mario Manningham, Junior, Michigan - Super Mario missed 4 games last season and still managed to come up with 38 catches and 703 yards and 9 tds with a sick 18.5 ypc. average. He does big things when Michigan needs him most, he is clutch. The most dangerous weapon on Michigan should get 80 grabs this year with 1,100 yards and 10-15 scores for a conservative Michigan offense. He is overshadowed for the Heisman by Hart and Henne. Mario is a top 20 prospect in next years draft.

4. Marcus Monk, Senior, Arkansas - He quiets any talk that Arkansas is a two-man team. Amazing speed and quickness for his size (6-6 220). Breaks a lot of tackles. Monk will never get enough recognition because of Nutt's run first offense. He grabbed 50 balls last season for 962 yards and 11 tds with a 19.2 ypc. average. Will help Arkansas try to win the SEC and make a BCS bowl. He is overshadowed by Jones and McFadden for the Heisman. He is a first round talent.

5. Early Doucet, Senior, LSU - He is finally no. 1 on the depth chart. Had a good year for a backup with 59 receptions for 722 yards and 8 tds. He also added two touchdowns rushing. Speed is his game, and he should be a better option than Bowe or Davis with the extra season. Look for him to have a monster year with 80-90 receptions and 1,200 to 1,400 yards and 15-20 touchdowns for a talented team. He has no shot at the heisman. He is a first round talent that could sneak into the top 15.

6. Percy Harvin, Sophmore, Florida - Enough is enough. I don't see him as a receiver yet, but more of a slash. He could turn into a Peter warrick or a Reggie Bush. His talent can not be ignored and thats what merits him this spot. He might not have as big of a year receiving as the names on this list, but he will come close to 2,000 all purpose yards and 15-20 tds. He displays speed and quickness parallell to Deion Sanders. Harvin will help the Gators take a chomp out of the BCS. He is a darkhorse Heisman canidate. Will be a top 10 pick when he decides to come out. Also he could shoot up to no. 2 on this list depending on how he is used.

7. DJ Hall, Senior, 'Bama - DJ WHO? Hall baby, Hall! This just in, he won Bama's spring award (mvp) for the second consecutive year. He is a poor-man's Randy Moss. Hall is a tall, lanky receiver that runs a 4.3. He had a great year last season in catching 62 balls and 1,056 yards and 5 tds with A 17.0 ypc. average. He will help 'Bama get restored to its respectable days while having a great senior year. No Heisman, but he is a first round talent.

8. Malcolm Kelly, Junior, Oklahoma - If anyone compares to Me-Shawn Johnson, its him. At 6-4 and 220 pounds, he provides a big target for the Sooners. He lacks the breakaway speed of the above mentioned. He will catch everything thrown his way, and look like an acrobat in the process. Last year he pulled in 62 balls for 993 yards and 10 tds. He will help Oklahoma compete for the BIG 12 title. He is a first round talent.

9. Limas Sweed, Senior, Texas - It seems like he has been here forever, he has. Sweed lacks one thing, speed. He has a knack for getting open in pressure situations. Last year he only caught 46 balls for 801 yards and 12 tds with a 17.4 ypc. average. He won't get a 1,00 yards this year either. Mack Brown runs a conservative offense which prevents that. If Colt McCoy is the real McCoy, then Sweed will help Texas win the Big-12 and get a BCS bid. He is overshadowed by McCoy for the Heisman. He is a first round talent.

10. Sammie Stroughter, Senior, Oregon State - He had a monster season for the B.eavers last year. He pulled in 74 balls last season for 1,293 yards and 5 scores with a 17.5 ypc. average. He scored 8 total tds because he also ran 3 punts back. He is extremely agile, and does run in the 4.3s. Lightning in a bottle describes him best. Expect for him to go out in style when he has another huge year and helps the B.eavers finish second behind USC. He has no chance for the Heisman. He is a first day talent.

Others who merit consideration - 1. Adarius Bowman, Senior, Oklahoma State, 2. Harry Douglas, Senior, Louisville, 3. Davone Bess, Junior, Hawaii, 4. Jarett Dillard, Junior, Rice, 5. Arrelious Benn, Freshmen, Illinois

earl bennett is not the best wr in college football

May 29, 2007  05:11 PM ET

Earl Bennett is a really good call. I don't know if I would put him at #1, but he's definitely Top 5. You missed the boat totally on the QB's, but I'll give you props on your WR selections.

i knew i'd catch some flak, Look at his numbers, its against the almighty sec. Ask a florida fan who seen this guy rip ryan smith and nelson a new one.

espn has limas sweed projected as a top 10 pick next year so preseason he must be ranked higher

May 29, 2007  05:28 PM ET

wait til his pro day when he runs a 4.65

May 29, 2007  05:30 PM ET

Harvin @ #6? He had a great national championship game which brought a lot of attention, but I wouldn't hardly say he's in the top 10. And liek you said, he's not even really a WR

May 29, 2007  05:38 PM ET

Harvin is the most talented player on that list, i was tempted to put him higher. if he wasn't on the list, could you imagine a bombardment from gators? If he plays receiver every down, he is better then everyone except bennett.

Who's going to throw to Earl Bennett? Doesn't matter if you have the finest strip club in America, if you don't have the hot girls in it, you got nothing.

May 31, 2007  12:39 AM ET

well i think he proved himself with chris nickson. He put up better numbers with nickson then cutler. He was only a fresh with cutler and had one of the best receiving seasons ever as a true fresh. He was a soph last year. How much better is he gonna be is the real question. If he rips the sec apart, he will go in the top 5. I really couldn't put anyone ahead of him. Desean Jackson plays weaker defenses, Manningham was injured for a good portion of last year. and Doucet was a backup catching passes from Jamarcus. Monk is not in his class. All in all, calvin johnson had reggie ball, and if my memory serves me correctly, he made his name pretty big time. I'm not saying Bennett is Calvin, but his all around game is rivaled by no one this year.

May 31, 2007  12:56 AM ET

So are you basing these rankings on stats? Or overall play making ability? Because Desean Jackson as well as Mario Manningham are big playmakers. Manningham may have been injured and sat out 3-4 games but in the first 6 games of the season he led the nation in scoring. You can't fault him for being injured.

May 31, 2007  01:10 AM ET

If you get injured, you can't play ball right? Desean jackson would have a tough time displaying those moves and speed against sec corners. If everyone wants to say the sec is the best, then they need to stick with it when guys are due for respect.

Adarius Bowman not top ten?? Preposterous! He's second in the country behind Sweed, who you had number 9?
