The top NFL teams all have one thing in common:  a great quarterback.  Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, you name it, the best of the best have the best QB's.  Here's my rundown on the ten best in the league.

1.  Peyton Manning -- The only knock on Manning for the past 5 years has been that he can't win the big one.  Well, he did this year which puts him ahead of Brady.

2.  Tom Brady -- Brady has three rings and is the quarterback of a NFL dynasty.  If he is able to put the numbers up that Manning has, he will reclaim his spot at el numero uno.

3.  Carson Palmer -- Palmer may be the league's best pure passer, but he hasn't had any post season success yet to make him any higher.

4.  Drew Brees -- Brees turned the New Orleans 'Aints into the New Orleans Saints with a remarkable year.  In five years he can be number one on this list if he brings the Saints a title.

5.  Donovan McNabb -- McNabb was having a heck of a year before his injury.  His uncanny ability to make plays with his arm and with his feet make him one of the league's best athletes.

6.  Marc Bulger -- Much like McNabb, Bulger is great when healthy...but he's hurt a lot.  If Bulger can stay out of the trainer's room, he has the weapons to put up huge numbers this season.

7.  Matt Hasselbeck -- Hasselbeck didn't have a great 2006 season, but he's been one of the most consistent quarterbacks the past few years.

8.  Brett Favre -- Favre is still a very good quarterback even though he's not nearly as good as he once was.

9.  Philip Rivers -- Sure, Rivers benefited from a great supporting cast this past season, but he still has all the tools of a great QB in the NFL.

10.  Eli Manning -- Like Rivers, Manning may have squeezed into the top ten because of his potential.  He has put up some decent numbers and should get better.

Honorable Mentions:  Mike Vick, Chad Pennington, Alex Smith, Vince Young, Jake Delhomme, Tony Romo

This list is accurate except have Brees, Bulger, Hasselbeck, and Rivers ahead of Palmer.

Eli Manning, Mike Vick, Chad Pennington, Jake Delhomme all over Steve McNair????

No, Brees, Bulger, Haselback and Rivers do not belong in front of Palmer, are you high John? And Eli Manning should not even be getting a sniff of the top ten, he is brutal.

I think you need a little consistency in your criteria. If potential gets someone on this list, where's JaMarcus Russell, Vince Young, and Tony Romo? They have as much potential as Eli Manning, if not more. If past greatness counts for anything (Brett Favre), you might as well put Joe Montana on this list.

Being a Dallas Cowboy Fan and going up against Donovan McNabb I will tell when he is healthy he is a top 3 QB in this league for someone to tell me they would rather have Eli or Matt Hasselbeck is Crazy... Eli has a 6'7 Burress all he has to do is throw it up.. McNabb is top 3 in my book hands down .

I agree with some previous comments, Eli shouldnt even be up at the top ten. If one assesses by potential, i actually see Tony Romo in the 10th spot in place of Eli. I also think McNabb should be ahead of Drew..he's been bugged by injury, a healthy McNabb is no worse than the elites

Here's a question? How far did Eli take the giants in his first year as starter? Dude, Romo has already done more in half a season than Mr. Lil Manning. That list is crap and soon to be nothing but over the hillers. Brady has way more rings than the one big Manning somehow got this year. Omg, philip rivers choked and still he's before Romo and even on the list of top ten..if Romo had a LT..maybe huh..

This is one of the best QB rankings I've seen. You're giving credit to Marc Bulger, who is always underrated, and you've left out Roethisberger, proving that you're not blinded by the glitz on a Super Bowl ring. My only beefs are that I'd have left off Favre and Eli and made Pennington #9 and Trent Green #10.

I agree with the comment before me. I am a Jets fan but I think that Pennington should be left off. If he continues his improvment and can start all 16 games without being injured again he should move up to somewhere around #7. Also Eli should have been left off the list and Alex Smith should have been # 9 or 10.

Donovan McNabb? Please. If that guy learns how to stop throwing the ball at people's feet, Jeff Garcia might let him try on his underpants.

so where is ben roethlisberger on this list?? and kurt warner??? and eli has definitely proven himself by getting a ring. palmer and bulger havent even come close. and where is orton? hes leading a team (chicago) on the road to the playoffs when they werent supposed to be close? this list definitely has to be changed.
