Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
If you have followed Dwight Howard very closely in the four years that he has played in the NBA, three things are very obvious about him. 1. He is a massively talented player and his combination of strength, tenacity, and defensive skill will make him a superstar caliber player for years to come. 2. He's a pretty easy-going, fun loving guy. He won the slam dunk competion this year wearing a super-man costume! 3. Dwight Howard is a very humble guy, and for all his talent, he almost always gives the credit for his physical gifts to God... did anyone see his dunk contest thriller last year, when he simultaneously dunked the ball and with his other hand placed a sticker that read "I can do all things through Christ Jesus" on the top of the backboard?!?! How many times has this guy been praised by the media for a great game, only for Howard to say something to the effect of "I just thank God for giving me the abilities and opportunities He has."? Yes, Dwight Howard made a mistake. He knows it. You and I know it. The media sure as hell knows it. When this story first broke, there were pictures of Howard holding the baby in his arms, declaring that he was going to do everything he could to be a good father to the child. See, Howard realizes he made a mistake. But as Christians, we know that when we stumble God will forgive us. It doesn't really matter what everyone else thinks. We also know that when we make a mistake, we need to react by doing the right thing. In Dwight Howard's case, doing the right thing is taking care of his newborn child. He appears to be doing just that.
So, in summary: I know it is a very American thing to want to pick other people apart for their flaws. So go ahead. If you are without flaw, go ahead and cast a stone... What's that? You make mistakes too? Well then, maybe you should do as Dwight Howard is doing and humbly, responsibly, just move past your mistakes and keep doing what God made you for. Sometimes the only perspective we really need on other peoples' situations is just a good look in to a mirror.
