The brutality, the bad example, too intense. All arguements I've heard against MMA. They all suck. I'll be the first to admit that I don't follow MMA too closely, but I do like to keep my ear close to the ground when it involves a sport that is gaining huge popularity. I saw the highlights of the highly touted fight this past weekend, over in the first round? Not exactly an impressive showing for the loser of that fight. It was sort of reminiscent of Tyson's glory years, which will push MMA past all of the fighting sports and into the limelight where the big sports media will be forced to watch it.
Now, the old hag boxing. I used to be a huge fan, watching the fights with the fervor of watching my very own G-Men, but recently, boxing does nothing but dance around and make excuses. The last big name fight didn't generate the huge American fanbase as boxing had hoped and just proved that no one really cares about the sport. Corruption is the biggest blame and over-saturation of the weight classes. I heard on the radio that boxing now has 17 weight classes? Ridiculous. Boxing needs an American heavywieght a'la Tyson to come roaring through who isn't afraid to challenge other big names.
Fannation, I'm asking you to sound-off. If by chance another Mike Tyson-esque boxer were to arrise, would you care about boxing again? How interested are you in the MMA craze? What are your thoughts on this past weekends big MMA fight? LET ME KNOW!
