I don't know about any of you, but as I look at the NL update for all-star voting, it makes me kind of sick. I know it's for the fans, and people are geered to favor their favorite players, but as baseball fans, why shouldn't we reward the players who most deserve to be all stars with an actual vote?
I look and see that LoDuca is leading the voting at catcher in the NL...having anyone other than Russel Martin leading is a baseball crime. No one in the NL even comes close to this kid...Martin is 4th in the voting....4th! LoDuca may have him in BA, but Martin has him in everything else...heck, he even has 8 SB...8, for a catcher!
Pujols, admittedly one of my favorites, is NOT having an all-star year...Fielder, Lee, Helton or how about Adrian Gonzalez?. All four of those guys deserve to start over Pujols.
At third base, we have another one of my favorite players, Wright, leading the vote...now, seriously, over Chipper and Cabrera?
Soriano....are you kidding me...I don't have enough space to talk about how many OFs deserve his current #3 spot...the most obvious choice is Matt Holliday.
If you are a baseball fan, the votes should go to the best player at the position...if it's close, I'm all for voting for your favorite guy, but seriously, these preliminary numbers are pathetic.
Vote for the Player who is performing the best at each position!

Great observation. I always thought that it was a crime that the big city teams (N.Y., Chicago, etc.) always get their players in even though they aren't having a great year. Cabrera leads 3B in almost all categories, yet he is third in voting?!?! And you are right on with Holliday and Helton. I think its time to revise the voting process. Nobody want to see an All-Star game between the Mets/Cubs vs the Yankees/Red Sox.

The AL is just as bad...Cano at 2B? Cano? He hasn't done jack all year...
Giambi in 2nd place for 1B over Morneau?
Morneau, the reigning AL MVP, who is 2nd in the AL in homers (16) and RBIs (44) and 1st in both categories among 1Bs and DHs...yes that includes Papi, (who has 9 homers and 38 RBIs) sits BEHIND Papi and Giambi...
Manny Ramirez...really?
Yanks fans and Red Sox fans should be ashamed of themselves for just voting for their own players instead of the best players...no class...

Jim L, i take offense to your no class remark regarding Sox fans..yanks fine...The problem with the voting by fans is alot of them who dont watch baseball regularly see a name they reconize and vote for them instead of the "no name" player who is leading in a categories.

All-Star voting is just a popularity contest anyway...I don't pay much attention to it.

Another year, another ridiculous MLB All Star voting. As it stands now, all but two players on the AL starting team will be Red Sox or Yankees.
C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF and DH. 5 Red Sox, 2 Yankees. Red Sox fans have got to be the worse at the whole ASG voting.
