There are neighborhoods throughout the country that have a theme and name their streets accordingly. For example, there are the tree themed neighborhoods with streets such as Oak, Elm, Lacebark, and Shaggybark. There are the flowery themes with Rosebud, and Tulip. One local builder likes to hunt and named his streets with a hunting theme: Remington, Mauser, Bowhunter and Ruger.
How about a neighborhood with a football theme? What fan wouldn't want to live in Gridiron Gardens where the entrance has a goalpost instead of a brickwall with a little flower garden? We could name the streets Lombardi Avenue, Touchdown Drive, Paydirt Lane and Quarterback Circle. It would be neat to look at a return address on a Christmas card and see 65 Toss Power Sweep Lane. You could have 1st Avenue intersect Goal Lane. How cool would it be to tell visiting friends that "go down to 1st and Goal and turn left, we're the second house on the right."?
There could be a 50 yard field in the middle of the subdivision lined for those neigborhood pick up games. There could be a once a year tournament held on the field to coincide with the neighborhood garage sale. Instead of having the same black, drab mailboxes in front of every house, have the residents paint them like the jersey of their favorite team. People could put their names above the number to their house to replicate that jersey even more.
Come on fans, let's start packing for Gridiron Gardens. I'll meet you at the entrance with a Gatorade bottle and some eye black.
