After a good start to the year, it seemed as if MD (men) would make it once again to the NCAA tournament (around a 6-9 seed). And after beating UNC, it seemed that MD had gotten itself into prime position for a good run. But the problem with this years team was inconsitency. Before beating UNC they lost to American, and after the beating of UNC, they couldn't beat Duke once.
The "Game of the Season" wasn't their UNC game (even though it wa great), but in fact their loss to Clemson on March 2nd. This game was MD's for the taking, including a 20 point lead. But MD starting playin lazy, and soon the momentum shifted to Clemson's side, and the last possesion of the game (w/ the score tied), Clemson was able to knock down a three to knock the wind out of MD. If they had one this game, I believe they would've kept on this hot-sreak and taken out VA, but this loss really hurt them, in my opinion it's what took them out of NCAA conention.
