Though Celtic may be out of the competition, our other YNWA club, Liverpool, is still fighting hard as ever for a place atop Europe's Elite throne as winner of the Champions League.

After their loss in the final to AC Milan, Liverpool look to be out with a vengence, and as of late their level of play has been uncomparable. In the final 16 matchup, Liverpool defeated Serie A leader Inter Milan, fairly easily I might add, finally proving to the world that they are still a team to be feared.

They were drawn against English rivals Arsenal in the quarterfinal, and with the first leg of the matchup being played at Arsenal's Emirites Stadium, most saw the game as a chance to end Liverpool's Champions League run.

Liverpool had other plans.

The Reds looked determined to quiet all the remaining doubters and came out of the gate storming today. They played fantastic defense and had several early shots on goal, surprising many in the stands. However, in the 23rd minute Arsenal took the lead off an Emmanuel Adebayor goal. Was this truly the beginning of the end for Liverpool?

Steven Gerrard and the men of Anfield would never go down without a fight. Arsenal's lead lasted but three minutes before a Gerrard cross found the foot of Reds striker Dirk Kuyt and landed into the back of the net, leveling the scoreline and immediately silencing the Gunner's passionate crowd of over 60,000.

After this the game went back and forth, with both sides getting off an array of shot and both goalies, Pepe Reina for Liverpool and Manuel Amunia for Arsenal. Both had outstanding performances.

The game finished in a 1-1 draw, right where many expected the two English sides to finish.

Though Arsenal looked to be in command most of the game with more possession than Liverpool, the Reds now have the advantage going into the second leg next week. Liverpool are known for their immense, game-changing crowds at Anfield that help push the home side to victory on European nights such as the arriving matchup. With the crowd behind him, Liverpool look to be better off in this very important and crucial matchup.

Dirk Kuyt scored an equalizer to help Liverpool hold Arsenal to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal here on Wednesday.

Arsenal Captain William Gallas kept a close watch on Liverpool's Fernando Torres, who had a quiet game. Liverpool will need a better showing from him in the second leg.

Liverpool fans are sure to come out in full force for an important derby matchup like this. Euro fans will remember this game for a long time, for sure.
