Yesterday night the Mets were supposed to take on the Braves in their home opener but it was postponed due to "rain".
While the Braves are the Mets arch rivals which is unlikely to change, the Mets have gotten better than the Braves over the past few seasons.
The Braves have had their pitching get older and have lost their former allstar Andruw Jones in the past few years.
The Mets have gotten young stars David Wright and Jose Reyes along with acquiring some great pitchers in Johan Santana, Oliver Perez, and John Maine.
The Braves have also gathered some young talent as well though with 2nd baseman Kelly Johnson who shows lots of potential and Brian McCann who is the best catcher in the NL right now.
The Mets have gotten older with Pedro Martinez showing that he has lost his old form and they lost Tom Glavine TO THE BRAVES in the last offseason.
So how does this rivalry shake up right now? I think that it is pretty even with the slight advantage to the Mets.
The Mets have more young talent and better pitching than the Braves but watch out Mets fans, the Braves could get much better very quickly!
Still, for now, just enjoy the Mets stomp all over the Braves this year!
And to Braves fans... well... you had your glory days over the Mets already so suck it up and get over losing to us!

This rivalry isn't so big anymore. It was huge from 99-01, but the biggest NL East rivalry now is Mets-Phillies

We'll see what happens.

Report Offensive CommentI can't see why ESPN was drooling over the Braves. They're solid in most areas. Same goes for the Mets, but the Mets have more star/fire power.

Report Offensive CommentWell, you guys may have done better the last couple of seasons, but you'll never ever erase those 14 division titles in a row. Boo Mets, GO Braves.

ANYTHING to keep the Mets away from the Nats' sitting in the TOP half of the NL East standings...yeah, yeah, whatever...lol
