The Candidates

1. Kouske Fukudome

Team-Chicago Cubs

Where he played-Chunichi Dragons (Japan)

Why he will win- Yet another Japanese talent coming to play in the U.S. In 2006 as a Dragon, Fukudome hit .351, jacked 31 homers, and drove in 104 RBI's. This guy is a major addition to the Cubs as a hitter and will prove it in his rookie year.

2. Jay Bruce

Team-Cincinnati Reds

Where he played-Went to minors from high school

Why he will win- Last year Bruce was named Minor League Player of the Year, and played in the All-Stars Futures game, I wouldn't be suprised if he made his first All-Star appearence in his first year or two. He is a great young fielder. This guy is a top prospect for the award

3. J.R. Towles

Team-Houston Astros

Where he played-Went to minors from high school

Why he will win- Towles had 11 home runs and batted .287 as a minor leaguer last year. After being called up from the minors, Towles had an 8 RBI Game. This guy is a ,ajor force and will most likely be a starting catcher for the Astros this year. Watch out for Towles to win over the likely candidates Bruce and Fukudome.
