Fulham, West London  - Sunday 6th of April,2008......The much anticipated match in Middlesbrough today ended with the unexpected, a 2-2 tie. It was a fantastic match to say the least. The weather by the river today was cold and unpleasant. Snow flurries were in the air nearly all of the 90 minute game time. The player of the match has to be United Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar. Even though Van Der Sar gave up 2 goals, he made great saves on at least 5 other kicks. Boro dominated the match that much. There should be no doubt in anyone's mind as to the defensive capabilities of Van Der Sar after today. He's one of the best keepers in the game....anywhere.

So what does this mean to Chelsea? Coming into this weekend Chelsea was in second place at 5 points behind first place Manchester U, 76 to 71. By winning yesterday at Manchester City, Chelsea earned an additional 3 points and are now at 74. With the tie today in Boro, Man U gains only 1 point and now has 77. Chelsea closed the gap by 2 points. For Chelsea fans everywhere, this was a great weekend of futball. keep in mind that Manager Avrom Grant was forced to rest a few of his starters on Saturday to ensure they were ready to play the second leg of the Champions League Quarter finals this Tuesday against Fenerbahce. After that, Chelsea will enter week number 34 of the Premier League against Wigan Athletic on Monday night 14th of April at Stamford Bridge with an 8pm kick off. Still to come......week number 36, a home game against Manchester United. This is likely to be the most crucial match of the season for both clubs. It's going to be a "must see" match.
