Pro Triangle Fan Group,
The Phillies and Reds engaged in a four game series this weekend in Cincy starting Friday night. Here is my brief synopsis of the games:
Game 1: Phillies 8 Reds 4 : Chase Utley hit two homeruns, the bats came alive, Kendrick pitched well. What is there not to like about this game? I mean really?
Game 2: Phillies 3 Reds 4: The Reds didn't have to score anymore than they did Friday night to win. 4 runs beat the Phils this game, and even though Eaton pitched solid, and Howard hit his first homerun it wasn't enough to beat the Reds, as they won in the bottom of the ninth of an infield single.
Game 3: Phillies 2 Reds 8: Myers gave Griffey Jr. #594, a mammoth blast that put 2 on the board early for the Reds and they never looked back as the Phillies were jacked up here. Not much more to say....except Lidge pitched a solid ninth! And Vozquez did good for the Reds!
Game 4: Phillies 5 Reds 3: Hamels picks up his first win, allowing 1 earned run through 7 and retiring 11 of 13 with 4 KOs after the first inning. Lidge picked up his first save as a Phillie!!! Pat Burell and Jenkins hit back to back HRs in the first following a leadoff homer by none other than Jimmy Rollins himself, and Burrell hit his second of the game in the third to give the Phils some cushion, the win, and the series split.
All in all it was a very good series, and the Phils did well, as well as the Reds who showed off their talented pitching.
