As you may have already noticed, Celtic are still trailing our hated rival Rangers in the race for the Scottish Premier League Crown.
The Bhoys had dropped their 2nd Old Firm meeting of the year against the Gers two weeks ago, dominating possesion but losing 1-0. It was a serious hit for the club.
And on Saturday, Celtic took another dive when they lost 1-0 to Motherwell.
"MOTHERWELL??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?"
As a result I actually pulled some of my hair out. Celtic dominated possesion once more, but lost 1-0 again.
Not scoring in the last two weeks brings up a major question for the Bhoys: Where has the team's finishing gone? Eary in the season Celtic often scored 3-5 goals a game, and now they're struggling for one!
Celtic risk ending the season empty-handed, without any trophies to add to their already full trophy case at Celtic Park, and Gordon Strachan and his men need to take a serious look in the mirror. Chances are this team, who is seen as an improvement from the teams in 05-07, will go trophiless for the first time in Strachan's run with the club.
This brings up the question: What will Celtic do to build their team in the offseason? Rumors have circulated that teams have rightfully been watching Aiden McGeady and Scott McDonald, two of Celtic's biggest playmakers, in hopes of signing them in the summer transfer period. Who will Celtic sign? Who will leave Celtic? Will Gordon Strachan stay?
Only time will tell, I suppose, but for now Celtic need to focus on finishing the season strongly. There is still a slight chance that they can pull away with the SPL title, and the team remains optimistic, but every game from now to the end of the season is a must-win.
Celtic have a lot of talent on the bench, including Bobo Balde and Chris Killen, who scored a hat-trick in the reserve game today (Monday) who would love to have a shot at the first team. Gordon Strachan will have a tough time in the offseason forming a new starting XI with so much talent at his disposal.
