These are two great American games, that I devote hours upon hours each year watching. I love both, football for it's intensity, and baseball for it's tradition, mindgames, and skill. Here are off the wall thoughts about the two sports.

Baseball- Many things could be done to improve it. For one, the marketing is TERRIBLE. Americans love superstars, and though the sport is full of them, only a few big names, Bonds, Jeter, and Papi are well known to the general public. Through comercials and other endorsements, ball players other than just those in New York could be household names.

Make a salary cap, the gap between the Royals and Yanks is too big and unfair. Also, players move around much more than they do in football. Football has great Dynastys like the pats and colts, baseball has a changing of the gaurd every year, with exception of the yanks and sox

Show other teams on ESPN besides the Yanks and Sox.

Get African Americans involved. Baseball needs more great atheletes like football to spark interest.

Football- Football is already great. Bottomline...there doesn't need to be a UFL just keep the NFL

get announcers who know **** about the sport. Baseball has these guys, football has only a select few.

make the game more international if possible.

these are just a few thoughts, please write or post yours on the subject.

Good article. Just one question. What's the deal with Buckeye fans? We're good people.

Disagree totally on player movement. Its equal if not greater in the NFL because contracts are not guaranteed. Every team loses a ton of players each year, but because football has larger rosters, its not as noticeable. Also don't like the idea that baseball should do more to market the players. That's what the NBA did, and Jordan became bigger than the game. Now the average fan doesn't care any more. Baseball should take a page from football's book and market franchise over players. That's a big reason why football is as big as it is.

Baseball does need to do something about the disparity between the haves and have nots, but there are too many owners out there who already pocket the luxury tax without improving their teams, that I'll never like a cap without a salary minimum. As ridiculous as the Yankees payroll is, its also ridiculous that teams like the Rays and Marlins are allowed to field rosters that cost less than either ARod or Jeter.

I'll take MLB over the NFL all through September and October. But where I am torn is MLB and NCAA Football. A USC game versus Cal or a Padres divisional play-off game? Tough one. Two TVs is one answer.
