Last night Mario Chalmers hit the biggest shot in the history of Kansas basketball. Considering the school's first coach was none other than the game's inventor, Dr. James Naismith, that's saying something. Chalmers' 3-pointer from the top of the key with 2.1 seconds left sent the game to overtime, where the Jayhawks lapped a stunned Memphis squad to win its first NCAA title in 20 years.

Not that we've made many (any?) such shots ourselves, but our sources say that one key is clearing the mind to focus purely on the moment. In fact, here are the fleeting thoughts that Chalmers pushed away from his consciousness just before he let fly:

10. Why is that fan in the Kansas shirt crying? Oh, duh, it's Roy Williams

9. Wonder if Billy Packer called this one "over" yet

8. Do I believe Rob Lowe or his nanny?

7. Can't wait to see how SI manages to put Tyler Hansbrough on this week's cover

6. Just think of this as a free throw -- for any team besides Memphis

5. What the heck does "Rock Chalk" mean anyway?

4. If Kristy Lee Cook can still be alive on American Idol, anything's possible

3. This'll so totally be in One Shining Moment

2. Why do we drive on a parkway, and park on a driveway? Am I right, people?

1. Make it or miss, I still get to skip school tomorrow

Don't you have to actually attend class in order to skip them?

April 8, 2008  10:33 AM ET

I wonder what cheerleader I am taking home tonight.

April 8, 2008  10:33 AM ET

Right...what is rock chalk?

April 8, 2008  10:34 AM ET

'How can I get a piece of Bill Self's 10 million dollars?'

April 8, 2008  10:35 AM ET

Why did we have to make this game so close?

I don't even know where Memphis is on the map... like such as....

April 8, 2008  10:37 AM ET

And they said the cheerleaders warming up in front of us was a bad thing.

FGB, Here, take this special pill. Chocolate coating makes it go down easier.

Pries open FGB's mouth, pops "miracle pill" in.

Tuna, you're EARLY with the 10 Spot this morning! You caught me off-guard and I totally wasted a huge response to Gir in the last post.

That being said, I'm liking how you continue to make fun of both roy and tyler. There just might be a future in this business for you, young man!

I wonder what cheerleader I am taking home tonight.

Mr. M - Hottest MLB Fans

That should read "cheerleaders"

And if you've never been to the tourney, you'd be amazed to see all the young women waiting in line outside the rooms of the teams. To congratulate them personally of course.

What Mario Chalmers *wasn't* thinking ...hmmmmmm

"I do love they way this jock strap fits...comfortable yet unpretentious"

April 8, 2008  10:41 AM ET

"It's a small world afterall..."

Nevermind, that is impossible to get out of your head once it starts...

April 8, 2008  10:41 AM ET

Ok, since it has been well established this morning that I am the caring Miss 10 Spot, I offer mouth to mouth to bring FGB back to us.

April 8, 2008  10:42 AM ET

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11. "As I take this potential game-tying shot, let me think back on my experience with the 1957 Kansas team and glean a little bit of insight into the pressure that I might be facing right now."

April 8, 2008  10:42 AM ET

Great post Jen,

Just wanted to say it before Pete had a chance.
