Texas State Spring Game Saturday

This Saturday night at 6pm Texas State Bobcat football fans will get their first preview of the team during the annual Maroon and Gold spring game.

There is a new excitement among the Bobcat faithful because of a new emphasis on defense.  The defense has been a weak spot, especially last season as the 'Cats gave up a record number of yards and tons of points.

New Defensive Coordinator Fred Bliel was hired to stop all of that and reports from spring practice indicate he may just do it.  The defense has looked strong in both practice and scrimmages.  Reports from the last scrimmage before the spring game indicate that the defense had a tremendous goal line stop and has shows vast improvement in both blitzing and deep pass coverage (a real weak point in the past couple of seasons).

There is also excitement on the offensive side of the ball.  Texas State returns it's triple threat running attack and has moved around some real athletes into receiver positions where their speed could make a real difference come fall.

If you are in San Marcos on Saturday stop by Bobcat Stadium, get there early because there will be tailgating, and pick up a copy of the latest Bobcat Fans Magazine with my cover story on the exciting future of Texas State facilities as the program begins the transition to FBS football.
