For those of you Shanahaters out there that swear to yourselves that Shanahan can't make roster moves worth anything, let's take a look back in time:

Let's keep in mind that this same coach that is also in charge of personnel brought in DJ Williams, Jay Cutler, Elvis Dumervil, Darrent Williams (RIP), Dominique Foxworth, Selvin Young, Andre Hall, Brandon Marshall, Tony Scheffler, the list goes on and on.  This team wouldn't even have a chance if it weren't for Shanahan.  Granted we haven't been winning games, but we're planning for the future.  The Broncos sucked under Elway his first few years.  What was the deal breaker that gave the Broncos a championship?  Terrell Davis.  Who picked Terrell Davis?  Mike Shanahan.  Give this young team the time to grow and we'll be just fine.  It's a double edged sword, you bring in great personnel and it's all Sundquist, but Shanahan had to approve EVERYTHING, which means Shanny made those moves.

With some interesting acquisitions at reciever, middle linebacker, and safety, it'll be interesting to see where we go with all of this.  I like that for the most part we're bringing in young guys, or veterans who bring experience to the team.  Let's face it, we've been rebuilding for years.  The time has come to accept the fact that it's going to take time for our young guys to gel, and when they do, we'll see another championship in Denver.

Don't count the Broncos out yet.

The Broncos were an average team the year they lost to the Steelers in the AFC Championship in '06 and have gotten nothing but worse since. Shanny or otherwise, this franchise is on a downslide and tragically losing Darrant Williams didnt help.

Cass, Do you see an oxymoron in there somewhere? And lets not forget that the Broncos beat the Pats "dynasty" team there to hand Bellicheck his first playoff loss... AND the Steelers whooped ass in the Super Bowl.

It certainly takes an more than an average team to accomplish those things.

Shanahan needs to move on. He has done great for 14 years but, has become complacent and the Broncos need a fresh coaching perspective. He has made some great acquisitions but has also made some stupid personnel changes like Portis, Liam, Pryce, Smith, Lynch etc.
The broncos needs 2 solid RBs and 2 more solid WRs and a defense. I expect this to happen during the off season and Denver will come back screammming and kicking butt. I would love to see this team come back and break the San Dogs in half, especially River's big mouth.
