Zbikowski Visits With Bears: A KO Pick in Rounds 3-6?

Chicago Tribune reports that Tom Zbikowski is scheduled to visit Hallas Hall Wenesday, amidst a loud chorus of cheers and jeers for the former Notre Dame safety.  Despite his reputation as a hard-hitting, "tough guy" player, (and having some obvious talent in the boxing ring), couch analysts all over the Chicago area are quick to point out that he's prone to missed tackles, something everyone would agree the Bears don't need any more of.

The Bears do, however, like players with Zibikowski's attitude and deameanor.  Perhaps even though Zib may fit in with the aesthetic of the Chicago Bears Football Team, he may not fit practically into the team's plans.  In my opinion, picking up Zibikowski before the 5th round is a huge gamble:  one that I hope Angelo restrains himself from making this year.  However, gambles in late rounds have payed off for the Bears in recent history, so perhaps targeting the radar at Zibikowski in some respect would be a good idea, especially in consideration of Mike Brown's inability to stay healthy.

Apparently, The Bears always invite local talent to meet at Hallas, regardless of their assumedly pre-concocted draft strategy.  It's going to be interesting to see where the Bears go in the first round, either signifying the end of the Benson era by drafting Mendenhall from Illinois, or going with one of the few remaning OL's at that point.

As far as Zibikowski is concerned though, it'd be a shame to not draft a player of his potential that grew up dreaming of being a Bear.  I think everyone would agree, the Bears need more of that.

Nice pun on his boxing career with the KO referrence.

I would love Z with the Bears. Archuletta didnt impress me at all last year, but chances are Z will spend his rookie year on the Special Teams, where he's very good, too. Im an ND fan, too, so its a double whammy. Home grown Bears fan and ND stud with the Bears? Great stuff.
