As the NBA Draft approaches, the Portland Trail Blazers have a really tough decision to make: Do they take Greg Oden or Kevin Durant with the number one overall selection in the draft? They will more than likely take Oden, because of their need for a dominant big guy. But, when, during this past college basketball season did Greg Oden ever dominate a game at Ohio State? They were on the tube all the time and I caught several games, and, to me, Mike Conley was the best player for the Bucks. He may have benefited from having an intimidating big guy, but I think that the player the Seattle Super Sonics will get, Kevin Durant from Texas, will be a better NBA player than Oden.
First of all, the NBA game is changing. It is completely guard oriented, and the Tim Duncan breed is about to go extinct. The game today is fit for guys like Lebron James: 6-8, 6-9 swing men who can do it all. This is what you get in Kevin Durant. He can get to the basket and shoot, and his long arms make him an above average defender. Plus, Durant constantly dominated games while he was with the Longhorns and he is almost impossible to guard. Memo to Portland: take Durant!

I agree with your statements but the Blazers do not need to take Durant because they do not need a swingman. They have Travis Outlaw, Martell Webster, and Darius Miles. They do need a big man because the overrated Zach Randolf is on his way out and LaMarcus Aldridge is NOT Greg Oden.

nice blog, keep in mind that Oden was playing left handed all season, and had wrist surgery on his right hand before the season, I too noticed how timid he played up until the NCAA tournament, but he really turned the corner once the tourney started, I think staying healthy this off season and getting to camp early will benefit him big time.

If the Sonics don't draft Durant, all the management should be fired, or shot. Durant is as clear at 2 as Oden is at 1.
