As of right now the running backs for the Dolphins are Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, Lorenzo Booker and Patrick Cobbs. Now Ricky and Ronny who are both 1 and 2 on the depth chart were both injured last season Ronnie being the worse of the 2. So far as documented in some news stories both are on track to be ready for training camp and will be good for the season. Nobody knows if they will be the same after their injuries but from all accounts they should be the same.
For the Fullback position there is both Reagan Mauia and Boomer Grigsby, Grigsby was more of a special teams player on the Chiefs and a personality on the team that everybody liked. For Mauia it is his second season, he can make holes but if he can do anything else is still yet to be proven. Coming off an arrest for battery, hes not on very good terms with a team who likes "high character" players. From what I'm hearing Grigsby and Mauia will compete for the FB job in Training camp, but its still to be determined if Mauia will be perturbed from his position.
As for the draft, I really don't see a reason why a running back or full back would be drafted unless the current regime feels we are not suited at either the FB or HB position. For me I really don't see the point in drafting a running back, although we don't know about Ricky and Ronnie yet Lorenzo Booker is more than capable of running the ball as well as Patrick Cobbs who was the RB for some of the season last year. Their are some reports that the Dolphins are interested in Kevin Smith the running back out of UCF. I do like him because he was a Heisman contender and a 1st team all american candidate last year an he is a hell of a running back. But we would have to get rid of Ricky and Cobbs because there would be no point of having 4 RB's on a roster and releasing one you just drafted last year. So as for now the running back core is set unless Ireland suprises us and drafts a running back.
