A recent article called Ultimate Cash Machines by Matthew Miller at Forbes.com is being splashed all over the internet right now. Maybe you've read it, but the numbers it produced were just too good to pass up, so...

340 Average ticket price ($340) for UFC 81 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This will certainly put a dent in the wallet, but hey in the City of Sin money seems to somehow lose its value.

1 According to the Fertitta's, billions Of dollars (1) that offers to purchase the company routinely exceed. This isn't half bad especially when you consider...

2 Back in 2001 the Fertitta's along with Dana White purchased the UFC for (2) million dollars.

4 Back in 2004, the Fertitta's and White were considering selling the UFC for (4) million dollars.

10 Not long after deciding not to sell, the amount the Fertitta's and White spent (10) million dollars in production costs for the reality show The Ultimate Fighter. The decision seems to have paid off. In four years offers have increased from four million to one billion!

170 The UFC has been broadcast in 170 countries.

5 the number of years until Dana White thinks MMA will be a billion dollar industry (sales).

6 Assuming there are (6) viewers per pay-per-view order, the UFC draws 3 million males between 18 and 49 years old each time they have an event.

51 Number of UFC pay per view buys (5.1) million in 2007

306 Again assuming six viewers per pay-per-view, the total number (30.6) million, of PPV viewers in 2007.

145 The 2007 numbers are a tad better than six years ago...the number of UFC pay-per-view buys (145,000) in 2001.

250 In 2007, the average ticket price ($250) of the UFC's live events.

Many of these numbers are just plain staggering, especially when we consider how short of time it has taken them to come to fruition. No doubt casino owners Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta, and their high school buddy Dana White took a gamble in purchasing the UFC...after reviewing the above numbers some might say it was worth it!
