If you're really quiet, you may be able to hear the sounds of a few Canadiens' fans jumping off the bandwagon.
Ok so is anyone else confused at how close the Boston-Montreal series is? To be honest, I'm pretty surprised at how most of the quaterfinal series have gone so far. Just to get into the true playoff spirit, I will offer my predictions for what will happen as we approach round two.
Boston-Montreal.
Something has got to give in this series. While I am born and rasied in Montreal, I just cannot like the Habs. However with all the grand expectations on them this year, I don't see how they can bow out to the 8th seeded Bruins. I applaud the B's for putting up such a fight, but it should be Canadiens in 6.
New York- New Jersey
Yes, Martin Brodeur is arguabley the best goalie of all time, but despite some lucky shots, he can't score goals. Unless the rest of the Devils in front of him step it up, the Rangers should wrap this one up tonight.
Philadelphia-Washington
Ovechkin, Ovechkin where are you? Give the kid a break though. It's his first post season, and it seems the Capitals are last season's penguins. They will dominate in years to come, but it won't be 2008. Flyers in 6.
Flames-Sharks
Jarome Iginla has been a monster, but alas he can't do it on his own. The series has been interesting as we wonder if the Stanley Cup favorite Sharks will be upset, but San Jose's big guns are stepping it up, and I doubt Calgary wll any more games this playoff.
Detroit-Nashville
Now that the Pens have cruised, this has got to be my favorite series. Anyone else tired of seeing the Wings compete year after year and get nowhere? Hasek and Chelios need to retire and Babcock needs to find a new bench. I would love to see Nashville take this one, however I think Detroit may live another round. But not a third.
Dallas-Anahiem
I routed for the Ducks last year after my beloved Penguins got crushed. This year is a different story. I want to see a new Stanley Cup champion. The Stars are not letting up, and with risk of being quite wrong, I'll take the Stars in 7.
Colorado-Minnesota
I am voting Jose Theodore as comeback player of the year. I was living in Montreal during all the turmoil a few years ago, and it's great to see him back into the elite goaltender form. This series could have gone to seven games, but as long as Marian Gaborik stays pointless, the Avs should take this one.
My favorite part of playoff predictions is that really, it's anyone's game. This year's playoffs are so exciting because there just aren't a lot of clear cut winners. So let's sit back and enjoy. Round two predictions are on their way.
Until next time...
