Doesnt it make sense for Oden or Durant to pull an Eli Manning? What player in their right mind wants to go to one of the smallest markets and be locked into a contract for 5 years? Doesnt it make sense for them (and the NBA) to go to a large market? From a marketing standpoint it makes a lot of sense, What is Oden going to hock in Portland? Car Sales? Durant in Seattle? "Come see the Space Needle its AWESOME!" Wouldnt it make sense for Oden to say I am not playing for anyone but the Knicks? NY would sell out MSG in a heartbeat! NBA gets a great team in the NY market 8 million plus, now lets say Durant does the same and Says you know what I want to play in Boston dont pick me or I wont sign - Colonel Klink... err Commissioner Stern gets a new rivalry along the lines of Magic and Bird, East Coast based and in Major Markets playing up tempo basketball drawing fans to watch - Doesnt that make sense? Does that make too much sense? If I was either one of them I would be eagerly looking forward to my opt out year. and if I was a GM I would be freeing up cap space for when they become free agents and want to escape the boredom of the northwest.
