Dodger Daydreams

The Atlanta Braves swept the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 6-1 win today. Jair Jurrjens picked up the win for the home team. Sadly, the Dodgers have slipped back into the cellar of the National League West division with this defining loss.

Russell Martin put a run on the scoreboard for the Dodgers with a solo homerun in the fourth-inning. This was his second homerun of the 2008 Regular Season. Unfortunately, Martin still has an atrocious .197 batting average - which truly epitomizes the Dodgers' offense in the past couple of games.

Rafael Furcal and Juan Pierre stole two bases each during today's game. Unfortunately, the Dodgers' inadequate offense was unable to knock them in from scoring positions. Juan Pierre, for example, left two runners in scoring position.

Hiroki Kuroda was handed his second loss of the 2008 Regular Season. While striking out four batters in six innings of work, the pitcher gave up a couple of runs. Regardless of how well he may have pitched, the Dodgers' inability to provide sufficient run support ceased him from grabbing the win.

Scott Proctor surrendered four runs in only one and 2/3 innings. Joe Torre even needed to come out and have a chat with his favorite reliever. Unfortunately, Torre is back to his "old ways," of sending Proctor out in tight situations too often. Thus, the pitcher's Earned-Run Average has taken a hit and is now at a horrific 9.00 for 2008.

The Dodgers hope to get a bold win tomorrow against the Cincinnati Reds. The first-pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM. Thankfully, Brad Penny is expected to be the starting-pitcher for Los Angeles.
