421 Date (4/21) of 2007 when Gabriel Gonzaga shocked fans everywhere by landing an unbelievably vicious head kick to Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic and knocking him out cold.

The Croat, Filipovic was a dominant PRIDE fighter who made the move to the UFC after PRIDE was bought out by the promotion. He was successful in his UFC debut and most thought he would be successful against Gonzaga. The feared striker was on his way to challenging for the heavyweight belt. But it wasn't meant to be. At 4:51 in Manchester, U.K. at UFC 70 Gonzaga connected and in effect sent Filipovic's career into a little tail spin.

After the devastating KO Filipovic tried to recover at UFC 75, also in England, but another big strong striker in Cheick Kongo was able to out point him handing him another loss in the UFC. This marked the first time in his career he had lost in back to back fights and his record dropped to 22-6-2.

The two losses were too much for "Cro Cop". He decided to leave the UFC with the plan of finding his old self back in Japan before returning to the Promotion to give it another shot. Hopefully he will do this because he is one of the biggest strikers in the world and should be on the biggest stage.

An interesting side note...you'd think that after KO'ing someone like "Cro Cop" on this day a year ago, Gonzaga would be marching toward a heavyweight title. Well he did get a chance in his very next fight, but was whipped by Randy Couture and then turned around and lost again to Fabricio Werdum. Cheick Kongo also lost his next time out to Heath Herring at UFC 82. Maybe it isn't such a good idea to beat Mirko!
