     Game 6 in the Capitals-Flyers series is tonight. Which means, I was a little off in my prediction(s). I said the Caps win in 5 games; it seems the Flyers hold a 3-2 advantage.

     Sue me.

     At any rate, I think we're all surprised it's gone to 6 games. But at some point, we're gonna see the REAL Alex Ovechkin break out tonight and show America (or at least the viewing audience on Versus, anyway) just WHY this man is the MVP of the league.

     Which, of course, means we'll have us a Game 7 tomorrow night. But in the event we don't, this is as good a time as any to applaud the Capitals for using the past 4 months as a form of elimination-style tourney.

     Just think: On Thanksgiving Day, this team sat dead-fricking-last in the Eastern Conference (and next-to-last in the NHL). Then, smart move #1 happens--Bruce Boudreau becomes the new head coach. Next thing you know, this team starts climbing out of the cellar.

     That's when smart move #2 happens: Christobal Huet gets traded from Montreal to Washington. Oh, Sergei Federov comes here, too...but let's face it, Huet becomes the linchpin in this assault upon the rest of the NHL.

     Now, you shouldn't take this piece as being an obituary just yet; we still have to play Game 6 tonight...and Game 7 tomorrow night. I just felt I needed to get in a final word on this Caps season, before it was too late.
