The quick victory came on the heels of a disqualification loss to Yushin Okami due to Silva illegally up kicking Okami when he was on his knees. After the loss, Anderson was 14-4 and considered a talented fighter, but most couldn't have predicted what he was about to do.
Two years ago today he started his current streak. One that has seen him plow through a number of tough opponents on his way to the UFC's middleweight belt.
His fights have gone as follows:
April 22, 2006 KO of Tony Fryklund at Cage Rage 16
June 28, 2006 KO (knee) of Chris Leben at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 5
October 13, 2006 TKO of Rich Franklin at UFC 64 (won middleweight title)
February 3, 2007 Submission (Elbows) of Travis Lutter at UFC 67
July 7, 2007 TKO of Nathan Marquardt at UFC 73
October 20, 2007 TKO of Rich Franklin at UFC 77
March 1, 2008 Submission (RNC) of Dan Henderson at UFC 82
None of these fights have gone to a third round. Henderson was close; he tapped from the rear naked choke at 4:52 of round two.
Silva has marched through some of the best fighters the UFC middleweight division has to offer and seems to be head and shoulders above the rest. His current streak is impressive to say the least and it started two years ago today.
