The DelcoTimes.com is reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles were one of the teams that has tried to acquire Kansas City Chiefs DE Jared Allen. No surprise there, who WOULDN’T want to acquire Allen. According to Delco, the offer was pretty much the same thing the Eagles have offered everyone in major deals, Lito Sheppard and a package of picks. It looks like the Eagles are REALLY looking for another play-maker on either side of the ball, and desperately looking to move Lito.

The Chiefs turned the Iggles down, as they are more interested in top draft picks instead of player/pick packages. Can’t really blame them for that as Allen is currently under the teams franchise tag, with the Minnesota Vikings considering signing him. If that happens the Vikings would forfeit over their next 2 first round draft picks. The only problem teams have in trading for Allen, is his contract demands as he will command a big payday and at the same time be a slight risk due to former substance abuse problems.

How insane would that defensive line have been with Jared Allen and Trent Cole? Definitely would of compared to divisional rival, the New York Giants, with their Michael Strahan / Osi Umenyiora combination. I am kind of surprised the Eagles are willing to spend so much money this off-season after being pretty fiscal the last few years. This year, it seems every big name who pops up they’re involved in somehow.

Now, how must Lito Sheppard feel? He’s got be feeling really unwanted right now. Every trade rumor out there has his name in it, even with the team constantly saying we have no problem keeping him, he’s got to be feeling like ****. Team general manager Tom Heckert didn’t really sound to convincing in his statement, “Anything can happen with Lito,” Heckert said. “He can be here and play for us or he might not be here. Right now he’s on our team and that’s really it.” Especially, when before that Heckert mentioned that Sheppard hasn’t participated in any off-season workout, something Andy Reid definitely doesn’t take to kindly too.

My guess here thou is Jared Allen (if moved or signed) will still wind up a Minnesota Viking. From what I’ve read it just sounds like he enjoyed his visit there to much, not to go there.
