The one thing that really surprised me was the money dished out to Jake Long. He's never played a down in the NFL yet he's getting paid 58m/5 years & 30mil guaranteed. How do you know for sure he won't be the next Robert Gallery? And if he is, that's going to set Miami back even longer...an unproven rookie should not be making the most money at his position in the NFL.

Jho, I do see your point, but the fact is he is the number one pick overall. What are you really supposed to do? I'm sure Parcells could have weedled the money down a bit, but by how much? Not enough to make a huge impact, I'm sure.

Chris Long is one of the "safest" picks at the top of the draft. Great character and you know he's going to give you great effort on every play.

Chris Long is a safe pick for St. Louis. That's good, because the last thing St. Louis needs is a bust worth at least 10 million in guaranteed.

I hope you give the Panthers an offensive tackle. With Jake Delhomme coming back and Matt Moore as a back-up (which will only do good if he can play as well as he did to end last season), then we will be set at QB and at RB we have DeAngelo Williams. Other than OT, the only first round pick we could use is at WR were Steve Smith needs help.

tcat: I was just kind of implying that something has to be done with the payscale for those drafted at the top of Round 1 in the NFL. Pretty soon you're going to have rookies making twice as much money as Tom Brady. What do you say about that?
