Well, SI announced that Brett Favre will be on the madden cover. The first former player on the cover.
A few months ago, I suggested that Madden should just put legends of the game on the cover from now on for two reasons:
1. Kill all the talk about that stupid jinx.
2. Show respect to the players of the past that helped build the league to what it is, but didn't play in a time where so many forms of media were available to help identify them with fans.
Well, I lost that throwdown.......popular opinon.....but it looks like EA is thinking along the same lines.
Hopefully this will be the first in a long line of covers that feature one of the game's best ever. Hopefully we can look forward to Jerry Rice, Barry Sanders, Neon Deon, Ronnie Lott, Mike Singletary, Gale Sayers, Jack Lambert, and others gracing the cover of the game that is so popular in part because of the contributions made by the afore mentioned players..
Just thought I'd remind anyone who reads this that I called it before all of you and you can count on me reminding everybody again next year if this becomes the new standard and I'm still here.

I disagree with your notion that Madden should put legends on the cover. This game is for the upcoming year, so that is all most Madden players care about. I think Favre was put on the cover because he had been such a big part of the league for 15 years, and the creators wanted to give him his due. I also think they did this so that they could put an end to all of the Madden curse talk. I think Favre deserves it, but i do not want to see Gale Sayers on the 2010 cover
